Frere Street Studios is a multi-tenanted building in the heart of vibrant Woodstock, Cape Town - South Africa, with various sized private studios and work spaces.  Operating as a shared space since 2019, the building is currently home to several professional creatives and artists as well as a Muay Thai & boxing gym.  Frere St Studios is made up of 6 studios, a self-contained flatlet, larger warehouse spaces and a shared kitchen, offering a sense of community to the artists and tenants.  Conveniently situated close to the N1 off-ramp and easy access to the Cape Town CBD. The building is also within walking distance to The Woodstock Exchange and WEX 1 and short drive down Albert Road to the Biscuit Mill. Each studio has plenty of wall space, high ceilings and large windows for natural light.  The building has fibre connectivity and is fully alarmed and very secure so ideal for working after hours.  There are several off-street parking bays to rent as well as ample street parking.

Affordable Workspaces

Cost is a critical factor for artists, especially in South Africa, and we have continued to keep our studios at the lower end of the affordable studio sector. Flexibility and clear, simple contracts are also important, as artists' needs change and we are able to help individuals manage that change. We understand that individual artists' needs are varied and within our portfolio of spaces we have a range of different sizes and styles of studio spaces to meet the requirements of most practices. 

Creative Community

At the heart of our studios are the artists and makers that fill the  work spaces. With an abundance of knowledge, talent and great personalities this creates the perfect mix for a creative community to thrive and grow.  From furniture joiners, painters, sculptors to mix martial artists, Frere Street Studios over flows with creative energy and great fusion of people.
